Step by step guide to descale your steriliser!!

I'm going to be doing a step by step guide how to descale a tommee Tippee electric steam steriliser.

Your advised to descale your steriliser every 4 weeks to ensure it is sterilising your baby's bottles properly!

This is the descaler I'm going to be using!  They are the boots own brand and come with 6 sachets. You can pick them up for under 3 pound! Bargain! I will do a full review after I have used them a few times! :)

1. Take out any bottles, teats, dummy's etc.. And also, take out the compartments so the Steriliser is empty!

2. Pour 200ml of water into the steriliser. I used a bottle for measuring!

3. Run a 5 minute cycle. Just with the water in.

I would stop the steriliser before the steriliser stops itself, as a normal 5 minute cycle using 80ml of water takes 5 minutes, so the more water you put in the longer the cycle will take. So, just time 5 minutes and then unplug the steriliser.

While waiting for the 5 minutes you could throughly clean and rinse the compartments from the steriliser!

(After 5 minutes your steriliser should look like this, and the water should be bubbling. Be careful when taking the lid off as it is VERY hot!)

4. Add one of the descaler sachets into the steriliser and put the lid back on.

(When you add the liquid into the water it will start to fizz, that's exactly what should happen)

5. Leave for 30 minutes!

(After 30 minutes your steriliser should look like this)

6. Thoroughly wash out the steriliser using water all the limescale should remove and look like this...

7. Run a normal cycle with all the compartments in to ensure the steriliser is working properly!

Dont put any of your baby's bottles in during this cycle!!

8. Once the cycle without bottles finishes your sterlisiler is ready for a normal cycle to sterilise your baby's bottles!

Hope this guides helps!

Tommee Tippee Steriliser

I haven't got any followers, so making blogs seems pointless at the moment, but I know every one has to start somewhere :)

Anyway, i am going to be doing a review on the Tommee Tippee electric steriliser!

Ive been using this set and all Tommee Tippee bottles since Darcie was a newborn baby, and now as she's nearing 6 months old, I think I can give a very good review on all the products.

The set I got included

BPA Free
  • 1 x Electric Steriliser
  • 1 x Electric Bottle warmer
  • 2 x Insulated bottle bag
  • 4 x 260 ml bottles
  • 4 x 150 ml bottles
  • 6 x Milk powder dispenser
  • 2 x Medium flow teats
  • 1 x Pure soother
  • 1 x Teat tongs
  • 1 x Closer to Nature Bottle Brush

The steriliser is great, it only takes 5 minutes to do a cycle of 6 bottles, and it's so quick and simple to do.

Each of the bottles have a dotted line on where 80ml is and you fill it with water and then put it in the steriliser and switch it on; as simple as that.

Inside there is slots where to put everything so you can easily slot all the bottles into place.

Honestly I have never used the bottle Warmer or the insulated bottle bags as I have always made Darcie's bottles up from fresh and never felt the need to use them. But, I did test the bottle warmer out and it was so simple again to use, you filled it up so it covered the milk in the bottle, and then turned it onto the setting three and that's it!

I found the milk dispensers so useful it's unreal! I use them all the time! Every day I fill them up to the amount of milk I need and then when Darcie needs a bottle it's so simple just to tip the powder in rather than measuring it all out!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this steriliser and the Tommee Tippee products to any mommy to be as its so simple to use and very much worth the money!
